Step Outside for Workout This Summer

To break the boredom of gym and to enjoy the mother nature, today I am listing down the outdoor activities that can help you to remain fit this summer.
 
Trekking: Trekking helps to reveal the mother nature and make you fall in love with the surroundings. You have the benefit of enjoying the fresh air with your family and friends yet giving your body the exercise it requires.
 

 
Snorkeling: If you are fond of waters and marine life, Snokel would be the best bet for summers. Snorkeling helps you to enjoy the under water experience.
 

 
Kayaking: By using the double bladed paddle, kayak proves to be the good exercise for the upper body especially for the shoulders and chest. It won't be wrong to say that kayaking is the most popular water sport.
 

 
Swimming: Swimming helps in giving the exercise to the complete body. What is better than being in the water to avoid ever increasing heat
 

 
Outdoor Yoga: Yoga in the open ground is another good option to try in summer.
 

 
Rock Climbing: Rock climbing helps to improve the cardiovascular health apart from toning the muscles. You can take your partner along to enjoy while climbing during these summers
 

 
Run near the beach
 
Running is one of the best way to get into shape. If you have the benefit of beach near your house, this is the good time to wear your shoes and enjoy the cool breeze while running at the sunrise time.

 
Skipping:
 
Skipping is another good exercise and popular activity to improve the overall health which can be enjoyed around the beech or in the garden during these summers.

Vegetarians against Meat Eaters: 6 Facts!

It seems that argues over what is healthier – vegetarianism or non-vegetarianism – will never stop. Still, there are facts capable to shed some light on this controversial question. What is your opinion? Is it healthier to give up on eating beefsteaks?
 
Fact 1 Approximately one billion people are vegetarians. Some do not want to kill animals and make them suffer. Others adhere to a vegetarian diet because of religious beliefs. And of course, there are people who choose this lifestyle to reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases and cancer.

 
Fact 2 Compared with those who eat meat, vegetarians suffer from diverticular disease 30% more rarely. In 2011 an article by Francesca Crowe and her colleagues has been published. The scientists examined 47 033 people, 33% of them were vegetarians. During the observation period (over 10 years) diverticulosis was diagnosed for 812 patients. The authors suggest that vegetarians are less likely to face this disease due to eating more fiber.

 
                  
 
Fact 3 Death rates of vegetarians and non-vegetarians are the same. This conclusion was made by experts of Oxford University. In 1999 scientists headed by Klim McPherson analyzed 27808 lethal outcomes of among vegetarians and 48,364 cases among non-vegetarians. People aged 16 to 89 years died of the most common diseases. The number of deaths caused by gastric cancer, colorectal cancer, lung cancer, breast cancer, prostate cancer and cerebrovascular was the same for vegetarians and non-vegetarians. Though, the death rate from coronary heart disease was 24% lower among vegetarians.

 
Fact 4 25% of vegetarians take medicine containing animal-origin components, as they don’t pay attention to information about the composition of the prescribed medications. The remaining vegetarians either involuntarily agree to take such drugs if an alternative method of treatment does not exist, or refuse to take them. In 2011 experts from the Manchester Royal Infirmary headed by Stephen Payne interviewed 500 patients, trying to figure out whether they are interested in the origin of the components of drugs. 176 of 200 respondents would prefer to take medication, consisting exclusively of plant components. Scientists believe that drug manufacturers must put special marks to the boxes that will help vegetarians to choose the "right medicine".

 

 
Fact 5 Veganism is the most severe form of vegetarianism. People do not eat dairy products, eggs, honey, and they refuse to wear fur and leather.

 
Fact 6 The risk of hospitalization and death from cardiovascular disease is 32% lower for vegetarians, compared to meat eaters. This is the conclusion of researchers at Oxford University led by Timothy Key. The authors of a study published in 2013 examined the health state of 44,561 patients from England and Scotland during 11 years. 34% of them were vegetarians. It was found that vegetarians are less prone to cardiovascular disease, even if take into account other risk factors. Body mass index and blood cholesterol of vegetarians was lower as well.

 
Yes, vegetarianism gives us a slight hope to live healthier and longer life. Judging from the above facts, it seems real to get rid of probable health risks by means of vegetable diet. Still, meat eaters will kindly remind you an unforgettable taste of just fried steak and highlight that life is boring without delicious food. Who is right? Obviously, the truth lies somewhere in the middle.

Stress is the top most factor for the lifestyle risk indicated by Towers Watson company which recently conducted the Staying@Work survey. "Almost 1 in every 3 Indian employers has instituted stress or resilience management programmes in 2013 and an almost equal number plan to follow suit in 2014. With stress being ranked as #1 lifestyle risk factor in India, this number is likely to grow," the report said. Working hard is fine. But problem is with overwork which result in stressful life. Stress when taken over the period of time can results not only the lower productivity at work but also affects on the health of the person.

10 things to keep your mind healthy

Healthy mind and healthy body go hand-in-hand and are the key for the successful people. Ones who are gifted with healthy mind has the ability to take the rational decisions in day to day life. People with healthy mind not only lead the successful life but also the satisfying one. These people do things in certain way and many things they avoid to do. Looking at the successful people, I have noticed certain things that are common in them. So, today I thought of consolidating the points which I have encountered that most of the strong willed people do that helps them to maintain the health of their mind.
 
1. Quick to move on: Success and failures are part and parcel in journey of life. Neither successful people celebrate the success nor they grief on the failures for the longer period of time. I am not saying that they do not celebrate or they do not grief. But, they quickly take steps to move on. When they get success, they celebrate and move on to the another target to achieve. In the same way, when they fail, they grief and quickly move on to check out on how to rectify the same. First lesson for the strong and healthy mind is to move on in life

 
2. Full control: The strong willed people have the full control on their emotions. They are the ones who do not get upset if superior authority has shouted on them or get angry when any subordinate has not performed the tasks according to their expectations. The mind of such people are well-centred. Second lesson for the strong and healthy mind is to have full control of your emotions.

 
                  
 
3. Change is the key: One of the best thing they understand and follow is to accept the change. Change is going to happen, no matter what. The only thing that is certain is "Change". Accepting it will give the peace of mind. Third Lesson for the strong and healthy life is to accept that change is inevitable.

 
4. Stop wasting energy: Healthy mind will not waste energy on the things that are beyond their control. For example, healthy mind will not crib on traffic instead they will utilize the time in doing something fruitful, like may be call up a friend or two or read the book. Forth Lesson is to utilize your energy to benefit your body, mind and soul.

 
5. Real People: Successful people are real in their approach irrespective of situations and people. It is not important that you have to please everyone around at all the times. What is important is to have your say and move on. Do not take stress unnecessary. But be real and truthful in what you say. Fifth Lesson for the strong and healthy mind is to stop pleasing everyone and being real.

 

 
6. Take Decisions: Don't waste time to over analyze the situation. Take decisions, no matter if you have to take risks. There are 50% chances of failures but there would be 50% chances of success as well. Sixth lesson for the strong and healthy mind is to take decision.

 
7. Learn from the failures: Successful people do not repeat the mistakes. They do fail but they learn the lessons from the failures. They distinctively recognize the reasons of past failures and never repeat them. Seventh lesson for the strong and healthy mind is to learn not only from successful incidents but also from the failures.

 
8. Don't be jealous: Healthy minded people are happy on other's success and not jealous. You are going to be restless if you envy on the other people success. Instead spend your energy to learn the things on how they have achieved the success and implement them with your own uniqueness. Eighth lesson for the strong and healthy mind is to celebrate other's success

 
9. Don't surrender after the first failure: Every successful person has at one point or the other has experienced the failure in life. They became successful by re-trying till the success is achieved. Ninth lesson for the strong and healthy mind is to try try till you succeed.

 

 
10. Don't expect quick results: Successful people do not expect everything at the earliest possible date. They divide their goals into small, medium and long term period. Accordingly work on them without expecting the result of all the goals in the short period of time. Another key is that they set the achievable targets, neither too hard nor too soft on themselves. Tenth lesson for the strong and healthy mind is to set the achievable target with the proper timelines in both personal as well as in the professional areas.

8 basic changes in kitchen for healthy life.

Health of the family depends upon how we keep our kitchen. Today, I am going to list down the ten basic things following which can help you and your family to lead the healthy life. In case if you are on the Weight Loss Mission than this post is the must read.
 
1. Storage of healthy food: Keep the healthy food at the eye level in the refrigerator or compartments. You should place them in such a way that it is easily available. Keep all fruits and vegetables at the eye level or not below the chest level while keep chips, cold-drinks and all junk food at the bottom of compartments or at the top level.

 
                  
 
2. Size of the utensils: Use wider utensils in case of healthy food and smaller ones keep it for unhealthy ones. Filling portion in the smaller containers will be less which will indirectly results in lesser intake of junk food.

 
3. Measurement Utensils: Make use of measurement utensils instead of adding the ingredients while preparing the food. For instance, pouring oil without the spoon has the higher chances of more inclusion of oil as compared to when poured with the help of the measuring spoons.

 

 
4. Availability of the Healthy Food: It is important to keep the tab on the quantity available of healthy food. You should start purchasing once there are only last 2 portions are available. This way, you will not have an excuse of indulging in junk food because of non availability of food.

 
5. Quantity: Use bigger compartments for the leafy vegetables, fruits and smaller ones for junk food. Appearance plays a bigger role and will give the impression that junk food containers are filled more as compared to healthy food items

 
6. Be prepared: If you do not get time in the morning, it is better to do preparation the night before whatever you can. For instance, you can keep the vegetables chopped the night before. This will prevent you from giving the reason of not cooking food in morning because of no time.

 

 
7. Use multi coloured food: Include multi coloured items and lots of variety in your meals. This has the twin benefit. 1) You will get the visual pleasure of too many things in the plate. 2) Because of multiple food items, there is lot of space utilized to keep the food segregated in the plate, yet the plate looks full. Top of it, eating variety of food ensures the intake of various essential nutrients

 
8. Have patience: It looks tempting to taste food as soon as it is prepared. But in the name of tasting sometimes we eat the entire bowl. Best way is to take your portion in the appropriate dishes and serve only when it is the time to eat the meal.

I thought about it, many things came in my mind from anger to frustration, from trying again to accept the failure. However. after reasoning out with each thought, I could come up with one solution which has worked most of the times. Check it out and let me know if you agree with the same.

A person tries everything by giving more than hundred percent to achieve what he dreams. But, however, sometimes he fails irrespective of putting the maximum efforts and using the right approach. During these times people usually take stress and try to reason out, think of the alternatives and still question and look for the answers.
 
I, say, when you have tried your best yet things go haywire than you should calm down. Leave everything beside and do nothing. Be blank, take rest and forget what has happened. Give time to rejuvenate yourself.
 
Once you have got the strength, set another goal. Make new plans. Now devote all your energy in achieving this new goal. Inside out just think about this new goal and plan on how to achieve the same. This is one of the best ways to forget the failures you have experienced last time.

Thank you to all Women in my life

While chatting on the facebook with one of the friend, I came across the “Pay it Forward” Status Message by Aparna, Editor, Women Web. The statement she wrote hooked my attention. I clicked the link to read further. When on the link, the first thing that grabbed my attention was International Women’s Day Special. I thought to close the link as Women’s Day was long back in March.
 
On the second thought, I decided to read further to know why the women day promotion they are doing today. As I kept reading the post, in back of the mind, I thought of so many problems today’s women face. Though we are living in the independent nation yet women are far away from receiving the real independence. Challenges that Indian Women face in the daily life are increasing day after day be it at work or at home.
 
Pay It forward (started by Women’s Web) is the nice way to enlighten women and let them know that they matter. There are many women’s in my life that has brought the difference. Every bit they have done means a lot. They are the ones to make me grow. Today, I would like to thank each one of them from bottom of my heart for every lesson they have thought me and for everything they have done for me. Here is my way of paying it forward.
 
                  
 
First one is God (Mata Rani). I have lot of faith in Mata Rani. I would like to close my eyes and thank Her for all the blessings showered on me and my family. Thank you lord for all the difficulties and the strength you gave me to face those difficult situations. At the same time, there are few questions that people ask from God. I have tried to compile the small poem of these questions and at the end tried to answer those questions. Hope you will enjoy reading.

 
I don't know whether I should doubt God or not,
But when I see around there is wrong happening a lot
Though I am not sure whether I will get answers of my questions in actions or words
But I am sure God is listening each and every word of human's heart
 
There are many who give birth to a child and throw them in dustbin without a mind
While there are others who are dying to have their own child
I am sure God is aware of their plight
And is doing what is supposed to be right
 
There are many who doesn’t want to follow rules set by their parents
While there are others who don’t have elders to guide them throughout their life
I am sure God has a reason to do all this
And left it to human being to understand the importance of elders in one’s life
 

 
There are many healthy people who die in accidents
While there are others who are suffering and are extremely sick
I don’t know what makes God to take this action
But I am sure he has an answer to my question
 
There are many people who fall in love and separate
While there are others who compromises one after other to get going in marriage
I don’t know why God make them meet
But I am sure there would be a reason behind it
 
There are many who roam from pillar to post in search of job
While there are others who are frustrated from doing same kind of job
I am sure God has well planned to give work
According to their capabilities to each and every one on this earth
 
There are many who throw food by saying we have ordered / cooked too much today
While there are others who go to bed without having a bite in the entire day
I am sure God must be looking and wondering
Why there is scarcity when food is available in plenty
 
There are many who die because they cannot repay the debt
While there are others who are wasting money with every moment left
I am sure God wants to teach that money is not more than life
But we hardly understand this important lesson in life
 
Is it not possible to give what a person wants?
I know it is easy saying but difficult to be in the shoes of God
Why it is always we want what we don’t have
And forget to nurture the things we already have
 
Instead of questioning God we should question ourselves
Why can’t we be happy with what we have?
God has always given what the need of person be
It is we who run after the wants and rest is for us to see
 

 
This is the only reason for unhappy and unsatisfied life
We all looks for wants and not the needs of life
Let’s pledge today to be happy and satisfied
Enjoy and be content in the every moment of life
 
Thanking God for each and every moment we are here
Appreciating Him for so beautiful nature everywhere
God has given the best to each one of us
It is we who make all the fuss.

Next I would like to pay it forward to my Grand Mom whom I have not seen in my life. I really wish to see her once but I don’t know how she looks. I wish to talk to her but I don’t know how she speaks. I always hear from my parents that her love was so pure and true. Every mother loves her child. But the instances that I have heard of my grand mom really make me wonder sometimes. I would like to share one of the incidents to make you understand her unconditional love.
 
Once, my mother forgot to have milk in the morning and left for the school. The moment my grand mom realized this, she took the glass of milk and went to the school. She searched for her in the playground and made her drink that glass of milk then and there. My mom says at that moment she felt so embarrassed because of her friends were around. They all started teasing her. But now, she misses all that love of her mother.

 
I wonder sometimes how true her love would have been which did not allow the morning to go unless her daughter had the milk. I wish I could also see her love but I know it is not possible. Somewhere up I am sure she would be looking at us and blessing our family.
 
I want to say on this day though I have neither seen you anytime nor heard your voice but I wish to see you once and wish to talk to you once. And see how would have you loved you grand-daughter if you would have been here for once.
 
Next I would like to pay it forward to my Mom. Well my mom does not love me like her mother loved her. Just joking. She has given her everything to see me and my brother happy. She has spent her entire life, like every mother, to make us what we are today. There was no difference between girls and boys at my place. In fact my mother made it a point that my brother learns all the household work including cooking, washing dishes, clothes, etc. Though I am elder of two, she made him learn all the household work before she thought me. Reason, according to her, is simple.
 
Mom, in her own words: “Girls will learn today or tomorrow the household work. But if boys are not been thought at the tender age, they will never learn. That male ego will prevent them to do household things later in life. This is not good for my future daughter in law. Hence it is important to teach him all the household work at the tender age.”
 
Well, there are still many women in my life to whom I would like to pay it forward. But this post will never end. So, to cut it short, I will mention all of them in a line or two. But this does not mean the contribution from them is less. They are equally important in my life like the ones mentioned above. I would like to pay it forward
 
1) To my teachers who have given me education.
2) To my cousin, Sneha, who share the unconditional love and is there whenever the need arises.
3) To my aunt, Pushpa, who thought me how to live the life completely
4) To my friend, Pooja, who have made my life beautiful by being there
5) To my childhood friends, Reshma and Sangeeta, who had thought me how to enjoy life
6) To my friend, Shabnam, who thought me how to be beautiful
7) To my friend, Poonam, irrespective of how many times we talk in a year, but we know each other inside out.
8) To my friend, Bhoomi, who thought me how to cook the tasty and not so tasty dishes
9) To my friend, Mamta, who thought me how to start a fresh after any failure
10) To my friend, Dimple, who thought me no one in the world is small
11) To my friend, Vanessa, who thought me no work is small not even washing the dust-bin. She says, cleaning your own things will keep your home dirt free
12) To my neighbor, Kirti, who thought me how to laugh
13) To, Nidhi, who encouraged me to write. Initially, I used to write for her blog. But suddenly I have lost the contact with her. She is not replying on emails, her blog has been removed so is her facebook page. If she is reading this, get in touch. I really miss you.
 
Well the list is endless, in short I would like to pay it forward to all the beautiful women who has been part of my life. Thank you all.
 
Last but not the least, I would like to pay it forward to Aparna because of whom, today I thought of all the wonderful moments I have spent with all those wonderful ladies.

 
I have done the third part of Pay it forward for women in this post and would do it again and again as and when opportunity comes by. With regard to first and second, I promise to start something soon.

4) Cabbage / Spinach leaves soaked in cold water for 30 minutes. Apply these leaves on the affected areas.

Summers are in full swing. All the sleeveless clothes and shorts are hanging in the front row of our cupboards. Wearing such trendy clothes is really the in thing at the moment. Mango is rightly termed as “KING OF FRUITS”.
We desperately wait for 8 months to enjoy this fruit. The pleasure what mangoes gives cannot be achieved from Frooti or Maaza. Mangoes are not only famous because of the sweet flavor but also because of the health and beauty benefits that are attached with it.
 
History of Mango
 
In ancient time mango was known as man-kay or man-gay. This fruit got the name MANGO by the Portuguese when they ventured to India. Mango is from the Anacardeacea family. Lord Buddha also used to sit under the Mango tree and meditate. Mango is specially found in tropical and subtropical regions of Asian countries more of in India and Pakistan. This rich nutrient fruit measures 5-15 cms in length and 4-10 cms in width. A mango fruit is oval in shape with soft and smooth outer covering. The internal flesh is orange in color and smooth too thus so tempting to eat that no one can resist. Mango is green in color when unripe than turns to golden yellow or orange red when ripe.
