How to Choose the Right Toothbrush?

Choosing the right toothbrush is as important for the health of your teeth as brushing them properly. With such variety of tooth brushes, it becomes difficult to choose the best one. On the other hand, the advertisements and beautiful colors and displays make our decision even more difficult.

Mostly, people go to buy the family packs of toothbrush. The family packs come with the same size and shapes. However, not every member of the family has the same size of mouth. Some has the wider while others have the narrower one. The younger family member has the smaller mouth compare to the elder member of the family. So how can the same size of tooth-brush can be used by all family members.

It is important to use the toothbrush accordingly that is best suited for you. Below are the general guidelines to choose the right toothbrush for own self.

1) Bristles: Many dentists recommend the use of soft bristles to remove the plaque from teeth and gums effectively. Stiff bristles can harm the gums and can damage the filling material, gum tissues. On the other hand the medium bristles can have the same effect as of stiff bristles if used improperly. The safest kind of brush is the brush with soft bristles.

2) Shape of Toothbrush: It is advisable to use the tooth-brush with flexible neck. But however the use of non slip grip can also can also be used. It depends upon the individual choice to choose the shape whether rectangular or otherwise. The only thing to keep in mind is to choose the shape which ensures that it reaches to all teeth easily and fits your mouth perfectly.

3) Age: Choose the toothbrush according to your age. The tooth brush for 3 years old and 30 years old is different. So choose the one according to your age.

4) Head of the toothbrush: It is advisable to use the tooth brush with smaller head and wider at the bottom. This ensures that the bristle reaches to the back molars and back teeth comfortably.

Once purchased, how to take care of tooth brush

1) Never share your toothbrush with others
2) Rinse your toothbrush completely after you are done with brushing and keep it in open space to air dry
3) Do ensure that the toothbrush does not touch the other toothbrushes.
4) Before using the toothbrush ensure to rinse it with water.

The right toothbrush can ensure the good oral hygiene is maintained and prevent from the tooth decay, dental plaque and gum diseases. I would lke to close the article with the famous quote by Clifford Stoll - "Treat your password like your toothbrush. Don't let anybody else use it, and get a new one every six months."

Are you doing any of these 10 brushing mistakes?

Yes. First and foremost thing is to educate yourself with the problem, timing when it usually occurs and triggers that force you towards the hair pulling. Try to avoid those situations as much as possible.

The habit reversal training is the most oldest and trustful treatment for Trichotillomania. The three main component of this training is awareness training, competing response training and social support. First stage is to identify and aware of the situations that triggers the hair pulling. Once identified, try to discourage it by substituting with another response. Lastly family and friends support play the key role into converting the hair pulling habit. It is the duty of the friends and loved ones to support the person suffering from the Trichotillomania and give the positive but encouraging feedback to help them to improve on the situations.

Self monitoring and assessment on the regular basis can also result in preventing the trichotillomania. Award yourself for successfully controlling the urge for certain period of time or in certain situations. Challenge yourself by increasing the timings after every award.

6 Tips to Stay Hydrated in Summer

6 Tips to Stay Hydrated in Summer

In summer season due to lot of sweat, our body give up high amount of water. If any one has tried the taste, you find the sweat a bit salty. This indicates that the body along with losing water gives up other nutrients in the form of salt.

Such a loss of nutrients brings the body glucose levels down and it loses lots of energy.

We must be extra careful during summers and must consume higher amount of water than in normal winter days. But how to achieve so.

1) Drink if you get up after half sleep: It is well said that body needs 8 hours of sleep. During summers, 8 hours are too much without water. Keep a water bottle near to bed and you must have water if you get up during the nights.

2) Drink a glass of water before you sleep: This is the most efficient way to make you get up during the night. If you drink a glass of water before sleep, 90% of chances are there, you will get up during the night to pee. This will allow you to have some water before you sleep again.

3) Drink just after you brush your teeth: This is the most important part of the day and if water consumed at this moment will surely help you in keeping the body hydrated. This is because, during the morning time when we leave for office or school, just after the shower the body temperature fluctuates too much resulting in high amount of sweat generation. If after having brush, the body could have 1 glass of water, that will be used by the body to generate sweat.

4) Drink while you travel: Along with the lunch box, your bag should have a bottle of water. This practice is followed by many individuals but due to rush in trains or while travelling, we won't be able to have water in chunks. And when we get time, we just have water in bulk. We should avoid this. Before jumping into trains or buses, we should have some water and must keep on having during the whole journey.

5) Don't drink once you reach office: Allow your body to relax and wait for 15 minutes before having water because the body temperature is at the highest at this moment of time. Allow it to relax and make body temperature reach normal. Now its important to not to have only water but water + glucose or water + electral or any other solution that allow the body to generate energy and salts that got released along with sweat.

6) Avoid lots of tea and coffee in office: Avoid tea and coffee during office hours, as they de hydrate the body further. Rather have fruit juices and coconut water

Follow the process while travelling the home too, but generally during the evening hours, body will generate less amount of sweat than in morning.

Ear Wax Removal Home Remedy

Ear Wax Removal Home Remedy

What is Ear Wax?
Ear wax is natural. It is generated by the body itself and is good for your ears. It actually helps the ear from external bacteria and also act as a lubricant for the ear canal.

How it affects the ears? Causes of Ear Wax accumulation in large amounts:
1) It affects in a negative way when we use cotton swabs to clean our ears. What happens is that while using cotton swabs, we may feel that we are cleaning the ears but the thing is it sometime pushes ear wax further inside causing blockages since the wax enters the ear canal and accumulate in large amounts.

2) When we listen to loud music using an ear phone, the sound pressure pushes the wax inside and accumulate there.

Process to remove ear wax:
1) Soften the Ear Wax

Generally an ear wax is thick in nature. Such a thickness prevents the ear wax to come out easily. To start with, it is essential to make the ear wax as soft as possible. Use Warm Olive Oil about 5 drops and lay on the couch to allow the oil enter deep inside. Wait for 20 minutes.

Hydrogen Peroxide to remove ear wax is also useful in making the wax softer. But it need to be takes in combination with water else its quite harmful. I have heard in some cases, hydrogen peroxide can cause damage to your eardrum, it stings like crazy and you cause permanent damage to your ears and hearing.

Soften the ear wax by putting a few drops of baby oil or mineral oil with the help of a dropper. Let the oil settle in for some time by placing a cotton ball at the ear opening.

2) Use plain lukewarm water

After 2 days of using olive oil, generally the wax gets soft. Its time to use the warm water. Use a rubber-bulb syringe to gently squirt warm water into your ear canal. Tilt your head and pull your outer ear up and back to straighten your ear canal. When finished irrigating, tip your head to the side to let the water drain out.

How to prevent excess ear wax blockage?
1) Avoid using cotton swabs
2) Stop listening to ear phone and loud music
3) Don’t use any pointed objects inside the ears
4) Avoid using cold water after softening the wax using olie oil as it will again turn the wax into hard state.
5) Don’t use candle ear wax remover.

Eyebrow Threading vs Waxing

Eyebrow Threading/Threaded Eyebrows vs Waxing Eyebrows, Which is better?

Perfectly groomed eyebrows is the dream of every girl. The properly arched eyebrows makes the face more beautiful. Eyebrows is the first thing which can either make or break your appearance. It is very important to keep your eyebrows in shape to give the lasting effect on the onlooker.

Threading and Waxing are the two most popular methods used to give the shape to eye brows. But of these options mentioned, which one is best? Which is better in terms of giving shape, less painful and to give a perfect arched look? Let us examine.

Threading: In this method, a person make use of cotton threads around the fingers, adjusted in the scissor shape, removes the extra hair from eye brows. Waxing, on the other hand, applies wax in the direction of hair growth and with the help of the wax strips the hair is removed.

Both the ways has proved to given the desired results of giving the shapes to your brows. But is one better than other?

Threading better than waxing

1) Threading has been proved to give the most desired and identical shapes to the both sides of brows.
2) Threading helps in giving the shapes as desired by the person
3) Threading can be used by the sensitive skin types as there is no application of any substance on the part of the skin. People allergic to wax should certainly avoid using wax to arch the eye brows
4) Threading is the most hygienic method to remove the extra hairs. Used threads does not help in removing the hairs. Hence every time the threading artists has to use the fresh thread to remove the extra hairs of eye brows.

5) Threading does not have any side effects, irrespective of skin types.

Waxing better than Threading

1) Threading is the time consuming job. So if time is the concern, opt for the waxing which can in one go removes the ten and hundreds of unwanted hair.
2) Waxing helps in damaging the hair follicles. This means when waxing used regularly, can help in reducing the re-growth of hair.
3) Waxing also helps in removing the dead skin on the applied area

So Threading or Waxing?

It really depends upon person to person. If you have sensitive skin and can have 10 to 15 minutes to spare, I would suggest to go with threading. Threading is less painful though takes time to give the output. Threading gives the most appropriate shape as compared to waxing. However, in the longer run waxing helps in reducing the re-growth of the hair. Threading, by far, is the most preferred method used by many women. Have you tried both the methods? Which one do you prefer - Threading or Waxing?
